OUR LOCATION

SOUTH is located at 600 North Broad Street in the Spring Garden neighborhood of Philadelphia, at the cross streets of Broad and Mt Vernon. Our entrance is on Mt Vernon Street. 

SOUTH is conveniently located near I-95, 676 and 76 and is within walking distance to several upscale hotels, Philadelphia City Hall, The Pennsylvania Convention Center and The Met. Information about parking is below.

OUR BUSINESS HOURS

SOUTH is open for business Thursday through Sunday for dinner and the best live Jazz in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Dinner is served Thursday from 5:00PM until 10:00PM, Friday and Saturday from 5:00PM to 11:00PM and Sundays from 4:00PM to 9:00PM.

PARKING

Public parking is now available just a short walk from SOUTH at the new Giant Supermarket at Broad & Spring Garden Streets. The entrance to the parking garage is on 15th Street. To find the parking lot using your GPS navigation, the address is 555 N 15th Street. Parking is $10 when you enter after 5:00PM and exit before 5:00AM. (No validation is necessary. This is a published rate at the parking facility.) 

SOUTH no longer offers valet parking.

DRESS CODE

SOUTH is an upscale restaurant and Jazz club and our patrons dress the part. Business attire and dressy casual attire are the norm. Most guests tend to dress up for a night out on the town.

PLEASE, NO:

 - athletic attire or sweat pants including hoodies, gym shorts, basketball shorts, swim trunks and designer sweat suits

- sneakers/athletic shoes (when worn with slacks or a suit, sneakers are acceptable)

- tank tops

- caps or bucket hats on gentlemen

- clothing with offensive language or images

- exposed undergarments & excessively revealing clothing

- work boots

RESERVATIONS - ARE THEY NECESSARY?

The short answer is yes. 

Reservations are strongly encouraged and most evenings are a necessity. We are almost always fully booked in both the dining room and Jazz Club, so we recommend planning ahead and reserving for the dining room or buying tickets for the Jazz Club. We seat walk-ins when possible, but if you don’t see availability online, we are fully booked and may not be able to accommodate guests who do not have a reservation. Online reservations represent our full table inventory. We do not hold back any tables for walk-in guests. The bar (and lounge on some evenings) are for our guests without reservations and are seated on a first-come first-seated basis. We do our best to seat all reservations promptly, and should you be running late, we give a 15 minute grace period for all parties. After the 15 minutes, we are unable to hold your table, but will do our best to seat you at the next available table.

DO YOU WANT TO DINE AT SOUTH or ENJOY LIVE JAZZ WHILE YOU DINE?

We offer both options. 

SOUTH is two distinct spaces under one roof. Our Dining Room is reminiscent of a lovely Southern home. Our Jazz Club is a hip, cool, industrial modern space. The two rooms are distinct in style, but the warm Southern hospitality is evident throughout. We offer the same menu in both our dining room and Jazz Club.

If you wish to join us for dinner, reservations can be made conveniently 24/7 by clicking this link RESERVE FOR DINNER (Does NOT include access to the Jazz Club).

If you want to join us for dinner and Jazz, you’ll need to purchase a ticket, but you DO NOT need  a separate dinner reservation in addition to the tickets. Your tickets will reserve a table in the Jazz Club where you can dine and remain at your table for the show. 

Seating in the Jazz Club is offered in the hour prior to the start of the show. We do this to allow you time to be seated and get comfortable, order your food and beverage, and chat with your companions before the show begins. To purchase tickets for an upcoming show, click this link PURCHASE TICKETS HERE (You DO NOT need a reservation in addition to the tickets. Tickets book your table in the Jazz Club where you can dine before and during the show.) 

We cannot combine parties with separately purchased tickets.

Each night there are two sets in the Jazz Club. Times vary depending on the night of the week. Most sets are 75 minutes in length.

Thursday Set Times - 7:00PM & 9:00PM

Friday & Saturday Set Times - 7:00PM & 9:30PM

Sunday Set Times - 6:30PM & 8:30PM

Please note that all tickets are for one set only. TICKETS ARE FINAL SALE, NON-EXCHANGEABLE & NON-REFUNDABLE.

SOUTH is not open Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday but may be available for private events. We do not offer take-out or delivery. We do not serve lunch or brunch.

RESERVATIONS & LARGE PARTIES

SOUTH is able to accommodate parties of up to 6 guests in our dining room. Our restaurant is a very modest size, therefore we cannot seat parties larger than 6 in the dining room, lounge or outdoor courtyard. We respectfully request that you do not make multiple reservations with the intention of booking for more than 6 guests. We are unable to move tables to accommodate larger groups.

A credit card is required to secure all dining room reservations. No charge will be made to your card as long as you cancel no later than 12 noon on the day BEFORE your reservation.

In the Jazz Club, a maximum of six tickets may be purchased. The largest party we are able to seat together is six guests. We do not combine tables or move tables to accommodate larger groups. We respectfully request that you honor our 6 ticket limit. This policy is in place to ensure that our Jazz Club is the music-focused, immersive experience our patrons expect. Tickets are prepaid, final sale, cannot be exchanged and are non-refundable. 

Groups of 30 or more are welcome to explore our private dining space SouthSide, located just next door to SOUTH at 1410 Mt Vernon Street.

WHY CAN'T I BOOK A LARGER PARTY?

We are not a large restaurant and do not find our space to be well equipped to handle large groups. We think SOUTH is best enjoyed in small, intimate groups.

In the Jazz Club, our goal is to create a laid back listening and dining space where everyone can be immersed in the music. We find that larger groups, who are often together to celebrate a special occasion, make it difficult to achieve a music-focused environment. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation in following these policies.

TICKETING POLICY

All shows at SOUTH Jazz Club are ticketed. Tickets are final sale, non-refundable and cannot be exchanged. You can transfer your tickets to someone, but we do not offer refunds and we do not have a re-sale option. We appreciate your understanding of these policies.

OUR LISTENING POLICY

The Jazz Club at SOUTH is a small, intimate venue for seeing the best Jazz artists live and up-close. There isn't a bad seat or obstructed view in the room. We endeavor to create a space where everyone can become fully immersed in the music. We ask that our guests help us achieve this goal by keeping conversation to a strict minimum. 

ACCESSIBILITY

SOUTH Restaurant and the Jazz Club are both fully accessible to our patrons with physical disabilities. Entrances and restrooms can all be accessed without stairs. If you need additional accommodations, please contact us and we will do our best to assist you.

CAKES, BALLOONS & OTHER PARTY DECORATIONS

With prior arrangement, guests may bring a cake to add to their celebratory dinner when dining in the dining room. We ask that you do not bring cakes into the Jazz Club. A $3 per person plating and serving fee will be added to your bill for any cake/dessert we serve.

SOUTH does not permit party decorations of any kind. This includes balloons, confetti and glitter. Small floral arrangements are welcome, but small is key. Our tables are not overly large and our plates are big and full of delicious food. Large floral displays simply won’t fit on the table.

If you would like flowers to be set at your table for a special occasion, please contact a local florist for assistance and be sure to tell the florist the name your reservation will be under, the time and date of your reservation and also let our staff know to expect a flower delivery in your name. SOUTH cannot order flowers on your behalf.

GIFT CARDS

Digital gift cards can be purchased online through our website. Digital gift cards can be sent by email or text message. You can even choose your digital delivery time and date. Cards can be sent immediately or scheduled to arrive exactly on that special occasion.

Traditional (physical gift cards similar to most major retailers) can be purchased only in-person at this time. Cards can be picked up during our regular business hours, or for bulk purchases, by appointment.

Gift cards can be used for the purchase of food and beverage, but at this time, they cannot be used to purchase tickets.
