November 08, 2026 until November 08, 2026

Oakland-born vocalist, songwriter, and three-time Grammy-winning collaborator bringing jazz-level musicianship into soul and alternative R&B. PHER is an Oakland-born vocalist, songwriter, and three-time Grammy-winning collaborator whose voice has appeared on award-winning work by Esperanza Spalding and Jon Batiste. His credits include Prince, Snarky Puppy, Chief Adjuah, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Kris Bowers, Eric Harland, James Francies, and the SFJAZZ Collective. He co-wrote and recorded “We Are America” with Prince and Esperanza Spalding, and delivered the featured vocal performance on Snarky Puppy’s “Liquid Love.” Longtime listeners first knew him as Chris Turner. Today, he records as PHER, a name given to him by his grandmother and reclaimed as the foundation of his solo career. His music brings jazz-level musicianship and commanding vocal range into soul and alternative R&B, pairing technical precision with direct, personal storytelling. Across love, fatherhood, sacrifice, longing, and resilience, PHER turns intimate experiences into songs with broad emotional reach. Released on Juneteenth 2026 through LOVECHILD Records, Songs By PHER places one of contemporary music’s most trusted collaborators at the center of his own story. The album arrived during a breakout year that included performing the National Anthem for the Golden State Warriors, headlining The Battery in San Francisco, appearing at SFJAZZ with saxophonist Logan Richardson, and a headlining selection from the Oakland Museum of California.
